Thanks to everyone who offered advice (particularly my_daroga, and to mae for the text). I actually went back and fiddled and came up with this

which I like rather better than its predecessor. I wish the image hadn't been so grainy and washed-out to begin with, though, because you can only saturate so much. I messed around with the pic from bases 7 and 8, because I can see what my_daroga meant about having people looking "offscreen", but somehow it didn't look right when I shifted it to the left. Huh.

Am seriously considering getting a sponsored account, because 6 icons is definitely not enough. Those of you who have them, are they worth it? Are they annoying, or particularly slow to load? Can you switch back if you change your mind?

After I finish this painting (and all I have left is the water) I'm going to do a lovely copy of a picture of Hearst Castle, which will probably never be finished. Alas. Still, I could come in after hours and work on it, if I get that attached.

(Found myself humming songs from RHPS while painting perfectly harmless rocks, today. *twitches*)

I actually haven't eaten a solid meal since lunch on Sunday. I might have mildly disturbed my friends at lunch today, because I gave my perfectly harmless lunch a look that would wither plant life, then proceeded to steal little bits of whatever salty, buttery, or chocolatey things they had. Ah, hormones, what would I do without you?
