I officially have the most kickass Painting project ever. I had to cut out a 20x24 mm rectangle of magazine, one that had LOTS of detail and color packed into that tiny area. Then, I sketched it out onto a 20x24 inch canvas- it's actually harder than you'd think to keep the proportions right and everything. And I'm sure it'll be a pain to match a color on my paintbrush to a three-pixels-wide dot... but I digress.
I found a nifty section; the background is a blue-violet with light-blue blended splotches in some areas. There's a wide vertical teal stripe across the middle, and centered on that stripe is a magenta circle with a vertical rectangle through its center, and tons of colors and patterns. Lastly, there's some red sort-of horseshoe shapes forming a dotted X centered on that circle. It looked interesting in the magazine, and sketched out huge on the canvas it's so geometric and graphic that I'm sort of in love with it.
I and Pangur Ban my cat,
'Tis a like task we are at:
Hunting mice is his delight,
Hunting words I sit all night.
Better far than praise of men
'Tis to sit with book and pen;
Pangur bears me no ill-will,
He too plies his simple skill.
'Tis a merry task to see
At our tasks how glad are we,
When at home we sit and find
Entertainment to our mind.
Oftentimes a mouse will stray
In the hero Pangur's way;
Oftentimes my keen thought set
Takes a meaning in its net.
'Gainst the wall he sets his eye
Full and fierce and sharp and sly;
'Gainst the wall of knowledge I
All my little wisdom try.
When a mouse darts from its den,
O how glad is Pangur then!
O what gladness do I prove
When I solve the doubts I love!
So in peace our task we ply,
Pangur Ban, my cat, and I;
In our arts we find our bliss,
I have mine and he has his.
Practice every day has made
Pangur perfect in his trade;
I get wisdom day and night
Turning darkness into light.
We read this in class and I was delighted. I'm going to name one of my cats Pangur Ban someday, and it'll be worse than Shere Khan, because I won't even be able to explain where it came from. It was nice to read this after a bunch of depressing poems, though after some consideration, my friends and I decided that the mice Pangur Ban hunted certainly feared Death in the form of the Eagle of Pengwern
I think I promised Ghostie a link to a Dark is Rising slashsmut piece I found, so here it is: and another small fragment of my morality crumbles.
Also, I am a complete geek, because I'm having a ball at Quiz Bowl. And even managed to impress some people, since my extensive fanfiction experience let me know what a Letter of Marque is.
This is completely random, but it has to be said. I've known many of you for over a year now, and just... you're all so interesting, it makes me feel better just to know you're out there. Whether or not I've personally talked to you in awhile, no matter how far away you live, I'm thinking of you and I love you.
Supernatural tonight RAAA!
