My slightly arthritic old ipod Mini has been giving me some trouble recently with the battery; I'm lucky if I can get eight hours out of it. The new, redesigned, and flat out gorgeous nano therefore has me practically drooling. It's got everything I love about my mini- namely the anodized aluminum case and lovely color- plus a liquid-crystal color screen, photo album capability, and 24-hour battery. Comes in 2GB (silver), 4GB (everything but black), and 8GB (black). I may be in love.

(I don't want a shuffle on general principal, but this is adorable. It's so teensy! And even cheaper than the old one.)

iTunes 7 gave me a nasty start for a moment when, on first use, it started to vibrate all my songs in a truly freakish fashion. I closed the window, calmly had a complete panic attack and near nervous breakdown, re-opened the window, and everything played and worked just fine. Gah.

My weekend is almost entirely free. I believe I shall hang out at the local Renfest, watch some Supernatural and Stargate and SGA, as well as read some Terry Pratchett.

Finished 1984, by the way, and the ending was every bit as subtly disturbing as I'd expected. All in all worth reading. Oh, and was the end of Good Omens actually probably a reference to O'Brian's "If you want a picture of the future, imagine a boot stamping on a human face- forever," line, or am I crazy? I'm pretty sure it is, which made me feel all smart and literary-like. Of course, before I noticed that, I noticed the similarities between the "2+2=5" torture scene and the one in that one ST:TNG episode, so maybe literary's not the right word. Try "geeky."

Mmph. That entry will remain where no one but myself has to look at it, and I am easily amused by myself. In short, AOL thoroughly screwed up my internet access, and made itself very difficult to remove. I get quite... irate... when deprived of my internet. In any case, I no longer have AIM, so no use contacting me through that.

What else? I've been watching Supernatural, of course... and the fanart for that fandom is very good, in many cases. Despite the attractiveness of the leads, the Squeeing Fangirl Ratio is quite low, probably due to its not yet having a second season. Excellent.

The worst part is that I now have to actually call someone if I want to talk to them, since Red's the only one of my friends who checks her e-mail regularly. Blast. I hate phone calls.

I was highly suspicious of the iTunes "Just for You" feature... but it does seem to have good instincts. At least half the songs on the Top Ten list are ones that I've heard on the radio and liked. However- and this reminds me of the Amazon recommendations- the connection between some albums seems spurious. "You bought 'The Phantom of the Opera (original cast recording)'- We recommend 'Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith (soundtrack)'". Does that make sense to you? Phantom Menace, maybe, if it was being particularly silly.

Also... electric violin. Oh, my heart. *swoons*
