So the other day I said to Red "Wow, Gerard's wife is pretty hot, I maybe have a bit of a crush on her." And she said "Me too, seriously. Tattoos."

I would like to congratulate bandom for being literally the friendliest fandom I've ever seen. Making friends in this fandom is as easy as seeing someone who looks cool and deciding "Hey, I want to talk to that person!" This might seem commonsense, but compared to some other fandoms I've been in, it's nothing short of miraculous. I absolutely adore the attitude this fandom has towards everything, and being able to bond with people over music as well as fic is just fantastic.

I am in love, love, LOVE with this fandom and these people. They (you) are all the best EVER. We are the best ever. There was an interview the other day where someone asked Pete "What's the most extravagant thing you've ever bought?" He replied, "Ryan Ross." How can a fandom containing that piece of trivia be anything less than astounding?

Read Oedipus the King by Sophocles in English.

It reminded me of why I'm taking this class, suffering through the essays and the studying and the pressure; it's to read literature like this. Ever since I was stuck in an after-school Latchkey program with only two good books (Norse and Greek Mythology), I've been fascinated with myths. That's a lot of the reason why I love Neil Gaiman's writing so much, and why I wrote my last research paper on his use of mythology in his work; he writes it the way I feel it, as something that is both completely fictional and more real than any story ever written.

Speaking of literature, I read A Streetcar Named Desire today, and it was brilliant.

Strange, since I'm not used to reading things in play format, but it was almost an effortless read despite the themes. I wish I could see it live; apparently my school put on a performance a few years back (with the role of Stanley played by a very talented young man who later made it to Broadway, earning himself the schoolwide nickname of That Lucky Bastard). Plays can be read, but I always get little ghosts of it playing out behind my eyes, like the story is trying to escape into a more visual incarnation.

Now I'm going to combine literature and music and offer you the song that's been running through my head for days: Oedipus- Regina Spektor. Regina is one of my favorite musicians, and pulls off the cheeky-girl-with-a-piano without reminding me of Tori Amos (which is, for the most part, a good thing). Her style is interesting, her diction is fascinating, and songs like this are just a pleasure to listen to.

If anyone likes that song, I'll upload some more. I think I'll do that anyways, actually; I feel a Regina Spektor post coming on. She is a musician and also pretty, that is excuse enough.
