fool me twice
Aug. 3rd, 2007 12:48 pmSo, Livejournal is fucking us over again.
For those of you who don't know what I'm talking about, which is probably most of you since they're doing their best to cover this up, there's information on what's happening from
bookshop here and a commentary from
copperbadge here.
Basically, Livejournal (whether under its own motivation or requested by Warner Brothers) decided to remove some art posted at
pornish_pixies which contained "minors in explicit sexual situations." So far, this has resulted in the permanent suspension of two fanartists; ponderosa121 and elaboration. LJ's new policy, by the way, is to show suspended livejournals as merely bolded like this. We make the strikethrough our rallying cry and they take it away. Fuckers.
elaboration's journal of erotic fanart, by the way, was completely f-locked. Two of her other journals, which contained no fanart, were also deleted. Both users have been prohibited from creating any more journals. There was no warning, and there is no way to appeal Livejournal's decision. In my opinion, this is an incredibly underhanded way of enforcing their (recently changed) interpretation of the TOS. The policy has never been as clear as it should be, and this sudden and harsh enforcement is rather alarming. Not to mention that the prohibition against suspended users creating other accounts makes it difficult for them to spread the word of what went down.
Same stuff from last time applies, guys. Join

ETA: If you want tips on how to back up your own journal, information on possible migrations, and links to all the information that's been dug up so far, there is a true masterlist created by
elke_tanzer here.
