Ah, a day of joy.

Went to a nearby suburb where they have a gorgeous two-story Borders. I got a Diane Duane book and The Sandman Companion (which I am categorizing as "research materials"), and strongly considered Howl's Moving Castle by Diana Wynne Jones, but rejected it on the basis that I was really looking for a Chrestomanci sequel and would ultimately be disappointed. Also got a best-of Nirvana CD and a Regina Spektor CD, so I am all full and happy with literary and musical goodness.

After that I went to a restaurant for lunch where they have the most amazing grilled cheese; it's havarti, gouda, and cheddar melted together on toasted sourdough with sliced tomato. YUM. Also a tasty if swamplike beef-and-vegetable soup and a pickle. With the books and music, fresh air and wind in my hair, it was very nearly a perfect day.

ETA: Where the hell does Regina Spektor get off being so gorgeous? Because, seriously. Eyes. Hands. *swoons*

You've got the best thesis paper ever. I'm extremely jealous.

I'm practically jealous of myself, really. I spend my free time re-reading American Gods and Good Omens, skimming through Sandman, browsing Neil's interviews and essays. It's fantastic. It will be the funnest paper I've ever written, including the one where I totally bashed Mark Twain.
