Have you ever wished things could go back to the way they were?
Or even further, back from what they were to what they might-have-been, the blissful idyll that you've heard about but never experienced?
What was is gone, what will be isn't here yet. I should really learn to deal with that.
Trust no Future, howe'er pleasant!
Let the dead Past bury its dead!
Act- act in the living Present!
Heart within, and God o'erhead!
~A Psalm of Life, Longfellow
I got some interesting things for my birthday. Probably my favorites were a pair of marcasite-and-silver earrings that look like attenuated leaves, a book of short stories by Mercedes Lackey, and a warm brown sweater-shirt. Mostly, I got money. Money and gift cards. Am I that hard to shop for?
Damages from my fall include a skinned and sore-to-move elbow, a sore-to-move wrist, and two or three bruises about as long and wide as my index finger (so, figure 3 inches by 1/2 inch) on my back where the corners of the stairs dug in. I expect them to turn some interesting colors, eventually.

Date: 2005-12-16 02:04 am (UTC)I did manage to get around with a nonfunctioning arm. Fortunately it was my left, or I wouldn't have been able to write!
