I'm seeing this as a sort of cross between becoming blood brothers (oooh, alliteration) and old-style circumcision. In which case, the brothers would probably not be too comfortable with each other afterwards, and spend a lot of time staring at the ground scuffing their toes in the dirt and saying, "Look, nothing happened, alright? Lets just forget about it."
