fandom_counts, a livejournal community created in response to the recent deletion debacle. It's not a posting community; in fact, posting is closed to all but the moderators, and they have no plans to post anything. It is simply what its name suggests, a headcount for the enormous population of fandom.
Livejournal has over 13 million journals created; how many belong to members of fandom? Join this community with all of your journals; personal, writing, art or icon, RPGs, that journal you dumped to get a cooler name... anything. Those Bastards didn't discriminate between real and fictional, active and abandoned journals when they were deleting; neither should we. The purpose of this community, in general, is to let Livejournal know how many people its decisions on this matter will affect.
When I joined this community less than two hours ago, there were over 27,500. Now, there are over 28,000. The moderators already have backup communities in place for when this one fills up. There's no way of knowing how this will turn out, or what it will change, but it takes almost no effort to join this community and show how much we count.
