So I mentioned yet again my desire to play an instrument, and instead of saying "That's nice" my parents this time said "Good, you need a hobby." So now I'm researching guitars. I'm kind of wavering, because I love electric guitars, but it seems like an acoustic might be a better learning instrument and require less accessory equipment besides. I don't know, do any of you know anything about this?
I'm laughing because someone wrote a wiki article on tonewood, which is making people twitchy because there aren't citations for everything. But how do you cite "North American Redwood- more richness in bass than cedar"? Record it and quote soundwaves?
I'm getting more and more excited about Sunday. Concert! My first concert ever, I may or may not have mentioned. I wasn't really into music until two or three years ago, and not into rock and popular music until this school year, but now I'm in love. It absolutely kills me that I get to go and see these bands live, be that close to them for just a few hours. And I love them, in that intensely personal and selfless way which only applies to someone you've never actually met. It's this strange combination of normal favorite-author type adoration, and the knowing devotion to one's favorite fictional character. I blame bandslash for that, but it makes me happy, so I don't mind in the least.
Toasted Skin is possibly the best summer-is-coming song ever. Or at least, for this summer, for this me, for this anticipation
ETA: Also, it was very hot today, so I felt no guilt sauntering around in a rather short denim skirt. Short to the point where I couldn't really bend over, to be honest, but what the hell, I'm young and I have good legs, might as well use them.

I forgot to tell y'all about last Thursday, where I went to Cedar Point for Physics Day. You may or may not have heard of it; it's a surprisingly excellent roller coaster-centric amusement park in Ohio. The Millennium Force and Top Thrill Dragster are two of the more famous ones. We got there before the park opened and did the early-morning sprint to get in the very front seat of the Millennium Force, which was a surreal experience. You get to the top and for a moment the weight of all the other cars holds you back so you're hanging over the edge, looking over 300 feet straight down, and the track seems to curve away underneath you and you're like a drop of water clinging to the edge of a table, waiting to fall.
After that, we went on the Magnum, the Mantis, the Mean Streak, the Blue Streak, the Raptor, and the Wicked Twister. Seven! I was exhausted. My personal favorites are the Millennium Force, the Raptor, and the Wicked Twister (those two last are the inverted sort of roller coaster, where your feet dangle) because they're smooth, non-jolty rides. If you ever go to that park I highly recommend them.
