Feb. 22nd, 2007 06:29 pmGuys, the digital camera industry HAS MY NUMBER. They know my weaknesses. They know that, faced with a Kodak Z650 and a Kodak Z710, I will always go for the newer, the shinier, the tinier and the more expensive. Even though I am a complete camera NOOB who was absolutely confused when there were all of these cameras without viewfinders! I mean, granted, a 2.5" screen makes a viewfinder slightly less necessary, but I don't quite get the idea of taking pictures with my nose not practically pressed against them. Of course, where you do find viewfinders, they're not optical but electronic- tiny LED screens that zoom when you zoom. Interesting idea, really.
There's also this interesting trend towards more zoom as opposed to more megapixels. A camera with 6.1 MP and 10x optical zoom can cost $100 more than a camera with 10 MP and 3x optical zoom. However, optical zoom is a magnificent thing, so I can't really argue against it.
I'm kind of liking the Kodak easyshare cameras, but choosing among them is like choosing among different flavor Oreos. I'm afraid to venture into the cookie aisle as a whole. I realized I asked about specific cameras before, but does anyone have anything good or bad to say about a particular brand?
Now I just have to decide if I'm going to be taking fun pictures, touristy pictures, artsy pictures... *sighs and browses*
